Hi, I’m Güllü, founder of Studio Damla.

As a busy mum of two young children, I know first-hand that home can be a space that is more chaotic than calm.

For me, creating welcoming spaces has a deep impact that goes beyond simply furnishing a room.

I grew up in a tiny mountain village in Turkey, in a home that was humble in nature, but that overflowed with the joy of family dinners, items of beauty and the flickering of candles.

After relocating to Switzerland, I honoured this spirit as I created a new home for myself in a new country. I even ran a business called ‘Evîn’ (which means both ‘home’ and ‘love’ in Kurdish) creating candles inspired by this time, as a way of honouring my past and appreciating the power of our home environments.

Over the last 30 years, I have truly found a home for myself in Switzerland. I now live in the beautiful scenic region of Stallikon with my husband, my daughter, my son and our two Persian cats, and I have loved the challenge of creating a space that works for us all, while keeping us connected with the nature we so love.

I believe thoughtful interior design begins with understanding how people live. How they move through their home, where they naturally gather, how they entertain, where they retreat, and how light and colour changes a space throughout the day. From there, I create interiors that balance beauty and function, with considered space planning and a strong connection between the rooms and the people living there.

Natural materials are central to my work. I am drawn to the richness of marble, the timeless beauty of hand-cast bronze, and the warmth and character of oak and the softness of linen and wool. I love materials that are tactile and honest - materials with natural variations and imperfections that develop character and become even more beautiful over time.

Much of my inspiration also comes from travelling. I love discovering different cultures, architecture and craftsmanship, and observing how colour , texture and materials are used around the world. These experiences continually shape my eye and influence the layered, personal interiors I create.

Colour, art and carefully chosen objects including vintage furniture bring another layer of personality. Rather than designing around trends, I look for elements that have meaning and longevity, creating a home that feels collected and personal rather than simply decorated.

My specialism is in translating family chaos into calm, cozy spaces that feel like home. Spaces that work as well in use as they look, spaces that balance the need for the children’s play, and the adults’ rest. Spaces that you step into and exhale, but that are easy to maintain.
